An Interview With Our CEO - Chris Santee

Chris Santee is a pragmatist and a dreamer. The two traits don’t often coverage, but when they do impressive things can happen.
Want proof? Colomont.
Chris founded Colomont in 2014 with a simple goal - to make the world a better place. He knew building a hemp-based business faced an uphill slog. But he pressed forward and attracted others - people from different backgrounds with different talents.
Together, this team moved Colomont from a start-up to a thriving business.
“We have an amazing group of people all committed to the same goal,” says Santee. “To make a difference in people’s lives and to change the world.
Chris cheerfully agreed to our be our first Thursday Q&A Blog interview and offered a lot of insight.

How did you first learn about the benefits of CBD Oil?

In 2014, I was on my way to Canon City, Colorado when a dear friend told me to “check out CBD”, so I started researching shortly after arriving. I learned about Josh Stanley and the Stanley Brothers, listened to the Charlotte Figi story from her mom, Paige, and I was truly inspired. Charlotte seemed to find relief from Dravet Syndrome, a form of Epilepsy. Mrs. Figi is truly one of the strongest women I have ever listened to and I encourage all to find her story online.

When I returned to Vermont, Dr. Bob Melamede spoke with me on many occasions and explained the endocannabinoid system and for that I am forever grateful.

What’s the biggest challenge Colomont has had to overcome?

Education, some folks still think I grow pot, but the world is learning more about hemp and CBD everyday and I’m extremely proud of Team Colomont providing their share of knowledge.

What is it about Colomont that you are the most proud?

Without hesitation, Team Colomont.

A long time ago, I served on the Flight Deck of a nuclear powered aircraft carrier and I was very proud to be part of that US Navy team but Team Colomont Rocks.

If you could start this process over knowing what you know now, what would you have changed?

Wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve made some mistakes but each increased my education.

If someone is a skeptic as to whether hemp is legal, or CBD is safe, what do you say to them?

Usually I show them, but they’re becoming fewer and farther between.

I was truly skeptical about CBD seeming to relieve so many ailments but after five years of use and listening to first hand stories, I’m no longer skeptical. I’m grateful to be a part of such a fantastic industry.

Why are you devoting this part of your life to this pursuit?

There is no greater joy than helping others.

What is the legacy you wish for Colomont?

I’m adamant on completing clinical trials with UVM Medical Center to prove CBD successfully treats Opioid Addiction and cures cancer. October marks 50 years since my mom passed from cancer. This one’s for her.
